Inventory Technician - Aerospace/Flight Support Services

Position Information: DescriptionThe Inventory Technician will assist in procurement, distribution, protection and control of UND Aerospace’s aircraft parts inventory and UND Aerospace owned equipment. The position will also evaluate removed aircraft parts/components for overhaul, repair or refurbishment actions and determine appropriate external repair facilities to complete necessary repairs per IAW FAA regulations and UND Aerospace’s Part 145 repair station certificate.

Duties & Responsibilities
    Aircraft parts procurement Manage UND Aerospace maintenance tools/equipment, including inspection, maintenance and calibration utilizing electronic database.Prepare requisitions of stock and special order requirements for UND Aerospace aircraft fleetDetermine minimum stock levels and reorder thresholds to maintain inventory levels at a cost effective amount of goodsPrepare appropriate approval documentation for parts procurement and assist in determining transportation/delivery requirements based on aircraft availability and flight training demandsValidate vendor capabilities, ensuring they are approved by the FAA to provide aircraft parts and maintain all required certifications to perform repairsReceive parts from vendors, complete initial inspection, documentation, and receipt requirements IAW UND Inventory operating proceduresAssist in optimizing vendor competitive bid procedures for purchase and repair of aircraft partsComplete required documentation for aircraft parts cores processing and returning shipping requirementsComply with UND and UND Aerospace’s purchasing guidelines
Warranty and goods claim processingEvaluate all removed parts and components for potential warranty submissionDetermine warranty claim requirement, depending on aircraft warranty status or new parts warranty dependent on installation dates/timeComplete warranty submission package based on various vendors and each vendors specific requirements.Submit warranty claims electronically or in hard copy format based on vendors requirementsProcess, as needed, all warranty parts for return shipment to applicable vendorProcess and maintain accurate records on warranty claims submitted to vendorsProvide warranty submission package to Fiscal Affairs for credit claim processingControl and Protection of InventoryRecord requisitions of required parts on aircraft work ordersMaintain perpetual inventory records using computerized inventory control systemConduct physical inventory reconciliation IAW internal audit procedures and Aerospace’s annual inventory auditEnforce aircraft parts cannibalization procedures IAW Inventory operating proceduresProvide proper storage and safekeeping of aircraft parts and suppliesReconcile work order parts requisitions report and hand generated requisition request sheetMonitor inventory control levels; recommend adjustments to maintain optimum inventory levels.Assist in developing policy and proceduresAssist mechanics in parts researchContact appropriate aviation vendors to order FAA/PMA approved partsOrganize inventory as neededShipment of aircraft components to repair facilities and other required dutiesDetermine appropriate repair station and arranges for timely return of items based on flight training needsProcess components for shipment to applicable repair facilities and determines most cost effective shipping methodMaintain accurate records on part shipped to vendorsCoordinate tracking and distribution of specialized tools, equipment, and supplies to maintenance personnel Maintain excellent working relationship with repair stations and vendors promotes good will within the industryOperate specialized equipment, including but not limited to, torque calibration tester, gas and electric powered forklifts, and computersTrack specialty equipment/tools perform calibrations as neededRequired Competencies
    Ability to communicate effectively in written, verbal, and electronic formatAbility to plan, assign and complete required duties unsupervisedAbility to lift and move 50lbs
Minimum Requirements
    High School Diploma or GED EquivalentValid Driver’s LicenseExperience with Microsoft Office software products, experience with inventory management software.Experience in inventory management and knowledgeable in basic accounting principles.Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification$16.34/hour – Non-Exempt, Full-Time, Benefited
