The Accounts Specialist III is mainly responsible for providing a broad range of fiscal functions of the Exploration Station and completes general duties related to accounting, cash management, contracts, grant awards, and customer service.

  • Handles contracts (Childcare Food Program, Voluntary Pre-K (VPK), School Readiness, Parent Contract)
  • Collects revenues in a timely manner
  • Meets accounts receivable and payable deadlines
  • Reviews and reconciles accounts
  • Processes payroll, billing, accounts, and cost transfers
  • Contracts with parents and establishes new accounts
  • Ensures accurate attendance policies
  • Prepares monthly budget reports
  • Monitors budget and actual spending
  • Monitors grant spending and reporting
  • Keeps accurate office inventory
  • Oversees service learning students’ contracts, student assistants' contracts, SOE students, and front desk personnel
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) years of successful accounting experience; or Associate’s degree, or sixty (60) equivalent college credits, and two (2) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Possess a Child Care Food Program Certificate, or ability to obtain as soon as workshop is offered
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of grants and contracts
  • Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office and database software applications; specifically in using word processing and spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations concerning financial record keeping
  • Knowledge of College Financial Management System and Child Care Management software
  • Knowledge of School Readiness regulations, VPK regulations, food program standards
  • Knowledge of the principles of accounting and the ability to apply this knowledge to work situations
  • Ability to keep complex records, and to assemble and organize data
  • Possess excellent time-management, organizational, and clerical skills
  • Ability to interpret basic financial entries and transactions
  • Ability to work Independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with parents, students, staff, and peers
