Director of Counseling Services
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Counseling Services is responsible for administrative coordination of all counseling services provided to Eastern Mennonite University enrolled undergraduate and graduate students on the main campus. The director provides direct clinical services while also overseeing the general operation of the counseling center: crisis intervention, consultation, coordination of educational programming, maintaining budget and records, and evaluation of all services. The director maintains a working professional collaboration with the MA in Counseling (MAC) Director of Clinical training to provide clinical services to the main campus by graduates in formal training.
Education: Master’s degree or higher in counseling, social work, clinical psychology required.
Experience: At least five years of counseling and leadership experience. Training in the provision of clinical supervision is preferred. Licensed Professional Counselor preferred (must be in the process of completing supervised residency and pursuing LPC within Virginia Board of Counseling guidelines).
Special Skills: Knowledgeable of counseling theories and skilled in therapeutic practices. With strong experience in making clinical assessments and in crisis intervention. Administrative skills are needed in creating a collaborative training program for counseling trainees, developing programming for mental health awareness, alcohol and substance use, relationship/sexual violence, offering administrative supervision to consoling trainees, and supervision to counseling personnel. Established rapport with various persons, including students, faculty/staff, administration, and community partners across all social categories. Observe and enforce professional standards, including the maintenance of strict confidentiality.
Position Details: Full-time position. Remuneration and benefits commensurate with experience and education following the administrative pay scale.
