About Social Ecology: Faculty in the three highly ranked departments within the School of Social Ecology share a commitment to scholarship that views human behavior in a larger social and institutional context, that moves beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries, and that seeks to disseminate knowledge beyond the confines of the university to a broader public. The faculty pursue knowledge production and dissemination in the service of fostering informed social action as they address issues ranging from global poverty to prison overcrowding, from gang violence to healthy child development, from health risks to community empowerment. The School is an internationally recognized pioneer in developing interdisciplinary approaches to social problems that encourage flexibility and independent thinking among faculty and students and nourish collaboration across different fields and with people of many different experiences. About ICS: As an independent school focused solely on the computer and information sciences, ICS has a unique perspective on the information technology disciplines that allows us a broad foundation from which to build educational programs and research initiatives that explore the many applications of the computing discipline — from circuits and systems to software engineering and human aspects of computing. Building on our strong foundation of computer science fundamentals, ICS conducts cutting-edge research in strategic areas ideal for collaborative work. By blending research with education in multiple disciplines, the Bren School is leading interdisciplinary efforts in order to meet the challenges of the future. About the CERES Network (To be established): The CERES network will ensure that the next generation of scientists and leaders in the broad areas of educational and child-focused technology will know how to work together on impactful research. By working across disciplinary and organizational boundaries, this network will shape the next phase of research, innovation, and evidence-based commercial products in this space. Finally, by engaging stakeholders from both scientific and corporate entities through intentional training events, personnel exchanges, and collaborative research, the CERES network will bridge the divide between research and product, closing a key gap that inhibits progress in current models. Independently oversees administrative operations, and administers all finance, human resources and facilities and other operational activities for small to mid-sized academic or research program focused on child development and technology. Seeking applicants with an understanding of psychology and child development with an interest in information technology and aptitude to learn across these disciplinary boundaries. Administer major program components and contributes to the design and development of the growth of the program, in addition to operational requirements. Develops and organizes conferences and other public forums. Works collaboratively as part of the senior leadership team with co-principal investigators and Faculty Director of the center - on formulating short-term and long-term planning and procedures to establish center agenda, funding, objectives and is charged with overseeing the implementation of these procedures. Compensation Range: Annually: $69,000.00 - $90,000.00 Department Website: https://www.informatics.uci.edu/ Required: 5+ years of experience in a university environment with increasing responsibilities, managing research and/or service efforts.Bachelors or master’s degree in psychology or closely related field.Thorough knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices.Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results.Strong ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers. Preferred: Academic background and experience in selected area of research preferred. Special Conditions Required: Some travel (<5%), including international, will be required to manage center events abroad. Evening and weekend work may be required during the annual center conference and other events. Final candidate subject to background check.
