Job Description

The Center for International Education (CIE) at Northern Arizona University seeks an enthusiastic candidate with an interest and experience in international education and student affairs and development to work as a part time for Education Abroad. This position reports directly to the Director for Education Abroad and/or the Assistant Director of Education Abroad and will lead marketing and recruitment efforts across campus and to the community to support the goals of Education Abroad.

The Education Abroad Advisor will have responsibility for the following:

EDUCATION ABROAD INITIAL ADVISING

• Advise students, faculty, staff and parents on Northern Arizona University administrative policies, procedures and opportunities for education abroad.
• Present information sessions and presentations on education abroad to prospective education abroad students, parents and members of the Northern Arizona University community.
• Actively recruit students for Education Abroad.
• Communicate with students while abroad, as necessary.

EDUCATION ABROAD ADMINISTRATION

• Management of the studyabroad@nau.edu email
• General advising to outgoing students
• Manage marketing and recruitment including, but not limited to:
• Classroom presentations
• Facilitation with faculty to promote study abroad
• Tabling/presentations
• Admission events
• Website maintenance
• Social media co-lead
• Content creation
• Flyers/social media/etc.
• Produce written and on-line documents for Northern Arizona University programs.
• Coordinate with NAU Events, NAU News and other outlets to schedule Education Abroad promotion.
• Participation in weekly meetings

VIRTUAL EXCHANGE AND STUDY ABROAD COURSES

• Assist two study abroad courses managed by Education Abroad
• Create content, networking opportunities and a positive experience for virtual inbound and select outbound students.

Represent CIE at campus, community, and national meetings as requested. Additional duties as assigned. Some after hour and weekend events will be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree; one year experience in higher education administration; previous experience living, working or studying abroad; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently; previous experience managing events; ability to effectively use technology for managing office responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years experience in higher education, Master’s Degree in a related field; Second language ability; experience with marketing and recruitment for international education.

Background Information

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check.

Additionally, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States.

Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus and NAU-Fort Defiance as these campuses have on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.

Salary

Compensation: $18-$19 per hour, depending on experience, 19 hours per week

FLSA Status

This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The incumbent is eligible for overtime pay or compensatory time according to University policy. Further, the employee must submit timesheets that accurately reflect all hours worked.
