Position Summary:

This position directs the undergraduate services unit at Grady College. It serves as assistant to the dean and associate dean for academic affairs.
It manages a six-person staff charged with a range of essential academic services, from admissions and advising through graduation, four undergraduate majors and a fluid number of certificate programs in a college focused on leadership in professional education in journalism, entertainment and media studies, advertising, public relations and media.
The position entails a commitment to the role of effective student services in engagement, learning and student success. It requires a demonstrated interest in working with high-achieving students and a zest for working with undergraduates interested in journalism and mass communication.
Working collaboratively with executive leadership of the college and with Grady faculty and staff, the director establishes goals for the unit and develops, implements and assesses academic programs and policies designed to support initiatives of the college’s strategic plan.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Educational background at the Master’s level or above preferred and experience working with undergraduates in an academic leadership or student services setting. Experience in journalism and mass communication or a related field is preferred, as are sophisticated communications, problem-solving and management skills, including the ability to develop and inspire staff and students and to develop productive relationships within the college and with other units and university groups.
