Position Summary:

This position reports to the Director of Security and Facilities (DSF). This position is full time and non-exempt. The Security Supervisor ensures that the museum staff, visitors and collections are protected, and will manage the department’s Security Operations Center, which includes life safety equipment, environmental systems, administrative reporting, access control and scheduling. He/she is on-call in the absence of the DSF. The Security Supervisor also completes other duties as assigned. This position requires leadership and strong written and verbal communication skills, as customer service is a priority. The Security Supervisor is responsible for successful daily operations and a positive visitor experience. The Security Supervisor will understand museum and department policy and procedures and be able to identify safety hazards and policy violations. Security Supervisors are expected to work cooperatively with the museum staff and assist with educational activities and special events. Typically, work schedules are consistent, but scheduling varies based on department needs. Will drive a box truck or van.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Completion of Basic Museum Security training.
Completion of FEMA IS 100, 200 and 700.
CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.
Willingness to participate in continuing education.
Knowledge of EEO policies.
Excellent customer service skills, diplomacy, attendance, integrity, good judgment, and the ability to assume a leadership role.
Knowledgeable in standard computer applications and programs; MS Word, email, MS Excel, and file management are required.
Ability to be both friendly and authoritative.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, manuals, policy and instructions.
Ability to identify, assess, and correct hazards.

Monitoring the fire protections system, Managing parking, responding to staff request, patrolling the museum, monitoring visitor management, monitoring access control, supervising contractors, Key control, responding to emergencies, providing first aid & CPR, conducting staff training, using security system.
