Under the direction of the SE&IS central Business Office Principal Financial Manager, and the Senior Associate Director in the Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards and Student Testing (CRESST), serve as a Senior Contract and Grants Fund Manager, 50% time in the central Business Office within the School of Education and Information Studies (SE&IS), and 50% time in CRESST. Primary responsibilities as the Senior Contract & Grants Fund Manager include advanced financial analysis, compliance monitoring and accounting of federal, state, and private contract/grant funding sources. Independently oversee and manage all pre-award and post-award administration related to contract & grants proposals of assigned individual faculty and a large research unit, with an annual budget of over $8-$10 million. Provide direct support and oversight in a full range of contract and grant activities and sales & service activities while proactively promoting compliance with Federal regulations, University policy, and School guidelines. Produce monthly detailed analysis and financial reports to deliver coherent and concise financial data to project directors, faculty, research units and Assistant Dean of Financial Administration/CFO. Incumbent is also responsible with exhibiting interpersonal skills needed to establish and maintain a dynamic and effective working relationship with faculty, staff, students, other campus units.
The School of Education & Information Studies houses two departments that offer both professional and scholarly programs. The Information Studies Department provides distinction to UCLA as the only University of California campus to offer a professional program with the accreditation required for public librarians. The Education Department offers professional programs for future teachers, principals, and administrators that are the largest and most successful among the UC campuses. A scholarly PhD program is also offered in each department. Approximately 100 ladder and other professional faculty serve a total student population of about 1000 graduate and 350 undergraduate full time equivalent students; 44 staff employees provide support to the school's administrative infrastructure; and an additional 400 staff members are employed within the school's multiple research and development centers and projects. There is significant ongoing research and self-supporting activities throughout the organization, which also includes an elementary school with another 430 students, 35 faculty, 40 staff and a principal. The Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards and Student Testing (CRESST) is a national research center at the forefront of educational innovation. CRESST sets the national research agenda by creating new methodologies, tools, and resources for evaluating educational quality, improving student learning, and student assessment . CRESST conducts R & D focused on assessment, evaluation, technology, and learning from preK through adult education. CRESST is funded by numerous individual contracts and grants from a diverse group of public organizations, private foundations, and maintains a robust sales & service portfolio.
