Job Description Summary
This position is based in San Francisco, California. Frequent domestic travel is required.

The Executive Director manages the Wharton San Francisco campus. The position reports to the Faculty Director, Wharton San Francisco with a dotted line to the Senior Director of Operations in Philadelphia. This position has responsibilities that include operation of the Wharton San Francisco facility, oversight of IT and Finance groups at Wharton San Francisco, and management of alumni programs in San Francisco, including the Open Space initiative.

Job Description

1) Lead all aspects of Wharton's San Francisco campus, including setting and executing strategy in partnership with the Faculty Director, and increasing efficient utilization of the space as a hub of entrepreneurial and educational activity.
2) Manage facility operations at Wharton SF, including housekeeping, maintenance, security, scheduling, relationship stewardship with landlord, and liaising with Wharton Operations and FRES to ensure best practices of the University are always maintained.
3) Re-establish a relationship with a food service company, including managing the RFP and bid process. Work with WEMBA as key stakeholder, while ensuring other operational issues are addressed. Consider consolidation of food service and housekeeping as an option.
4) Manage 5 staff and coordinate oversight for the Finance and IT staff.
5) Coordinate Wharton San Francisco staff and facility usage and manage resource conflicts among key Wharton units including the Wharton Executive MBA, Wharton Full-Time MBA Semester in San Francisco, Wharton Executive Education, Penn Management and Technology Program San Francisco Trek, Wharton External Affairs, and Wharton Marketing and Communications.
6) Efficiently and courteously manage requests for facility use by University and outside groups, including alumni groups.
7) Coordinate with Wharton Finance and Administration preparation of Wharton San Francisco operating budget, and on-going financial management during the fiscal year.
8) Prepare for a safe return to campus ensuring adherence to constantly changing SF Department of Public Health guidelines for Higher Education and best practices for the main campus.
9) Serve as a local liaison between the School and the Bay Area alumni community. Enable entrepreneurship and alumni engagement by facilitating the use of space and resources by students and alums at the Wharton San Francisco campus. Manage the safe reopening of the alumni Open Space program in the post-covid period.

Bachelors Degree and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in higher education is required. Experience with information technology management; facility operations; higher education administration. Strong written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to interact comfortably with various constituent groups, senior leadership, students, and alumni. Ability to function independently. Solid administrative skills including the ability to establish objectives, identify key performance indicators, set performance standards, and organize a successful approach to facility utilization at Wharton. Frequent travel, evening/weekend work, and on-call responsibilities 24/7 are required.

This position will require extensive travel, evening/weekend work, and have on-call responsibilities 24/7 as the manager of the Wharton San Francisco facility and entrepreneurship-focused incubator space.
