Description
The Program Specialist under the direction of the Senior Manager in the Office of Education provides support for the Lewis Katz School of Medicine’s MD Pre-clerkship Curriculum and Office of Medical Education, including First- and Second-Year electives; Podiatry and Dental school courses directed by LKSOM faculty; faculty teaching data; curriculum mapping; maintenance of key lists and listservs; and other projects as needed.

 Responsibilities include: coordinates all aspects of first and second year electives, including gauging student interest, developing catalog, overseeing student registration; communication with faculty and students; reserving resources as needed; and ensuring grades are entered for all students; coordinates basic science podiatry, dental and advanced anatomy courses, including collection of schedules; entering of data into curriculum management system and providing administrative support to course directors, as needed; manages medical student listservs; helps to manage the collection, correction and reporting of faculty teaching data and curriculum mapping data for the MD and Graduate programs; provides support for other pre-clerkship courses and serve as back up to pre-clerkship staff as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of directly related experience in a higher education and/or medical education environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:

*Demonstrated ability to organize large, ongoing projects with multiple deadlines.

*Demonstrated skills in MS Office Suite and proficiency with database software programs, along with the ability to learn new software applications.

*Ability to synthesize and analyze data.

*Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

*Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse constituent population.

*Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

*Demonstrated ability to handle challenging situations with diplomacy and tact.

 Preferred:

*Experience supporting academic courses.

*Experience with academic content management system.

*Experience working with students.

 

This position requires a background check.

Please note this position will temporarily work remotely, the duration of remote work will be at the discretion of Temple University and the department.
