The Office of Revenue, Receivable & Cashiering Services (RRCS) is recruiting an Accountant I who is professional, detail oriented and analytical to join our team.  This position will be responsible for performing entry-level accountant duties and assisting higher level accountants.  Additional hours on evenings and weekends may be required during month and year-end closings.

Duties:

  • Prepare entry-level account reconciliations between student sub-system and financial system
  • Reconcile returned payments for student and non-student transactions
  • Process accounting entries to charge departments for returned payments
  • Research and respond to disputed transactions for student and non-student transactions
  • Maintain chargeback and dispute files, records, and reports
  • Assist with resolving chargeback issues on the GSU bank account reconciliation
  • Process payment account hold waiver requests
  • Represent the university’s interest during interactions with the bank and other payment processors
  • Manage the department’s returned payment notification email account
  • Communicate with students and departments about chargeback items
  • Respond daily to phone and e-mail inquiries from students, university personnel, and external customers
  • Research and resolve questions daily
  • Answer phone calls related to chargebacks and disputes daily
  • Provide accurate policy and procedure information to students, faculty, and staff
  • Deliver excellent customer service via email, by phone, and in-person
  • Maintain a professional attitude at all times
  • Assist other accountants, when necessary
  • Performs special projects when assigned


Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; or high school diploma or GED and four years bookkeeping or accounting experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
