Research Technician II

The Center for Molecular & Translational Medicine (CMTM) at Georgia State University meets healthcare needs by converting significant research findings into diagnostic tools and medicines to improve the health of individuals. The current research focus of the center is to dissect molecular insights of cardiovascular-related diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases, by using specific animal models and cellular and molecular strategies.  

The scope of responsibility will include these specific duties, but is not limited to the following

  • Performs animal care and assists with animal husbandry, including breeding, genotyping, pre-post surgery care, and tissue collections; Assists in vivo physiological studies
  • Performs cellular and molecular research experiments, prepares reagents, conducts cell culture, cell collection, RNA, DNA and protein extractions and detections; Collects, analyzes, and summarizes research data. Maintains computer databases with research results
  • Assists other researchers in conducting complex experiments. Prepares bibliographic materials. Sets up the laboratory or other research areas
  • Will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of GSU

Bachelor's degree and two years of research experience; or high school diploma or GED and six years of research experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
