Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Associate Athletic Director for Governance and Compliance, this position is responsible for the day to day creating, maintaining, and monitoring of a compliant environment that results in clear institutional control of all athletic programs relative to Conference and NCAA legislation as required by NCAA Division I membership. Additionally, this position is responsible for providing interpretations to coaches and staff regarding NCAA legislation and creating rules education documents. This position will have a primary focus on initial eligibility and monitoring in addition to other compliance responsibilities.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in development, implementation, and documentation of all departmental policies and procedures related to NCAA rules compliance and rules education for student-athletes, athletics staff, applicable university staff, and representatives of athletics interests.
  • Complete and submit requests for waivers of NCAA and conference rules, where necessary.
  • Provide rules education for student-athletes, coaches, staff and boosters as needed.
  • Research, write, and issue NCAA rules interpretations.
  • Serve as the daily liaison with Transfer Admissions.
  • Coordinate institutional monitoring program for assigned NCAA bylaw areas.
  • Oversee all aspects of scholarship awards (initial, renewals, reductions, non-renewals) as well as scholarship adjustments in conjunction with appropriate University and department offices.
  • Schedule and administer yearly NCAA coach’s certification recruiting exams.
  • Work with the Assistant Registrar and Academic Support Services staff to maintain accurate academic database of approximately 600 student-athletes for purposes of certifying NCAA continuing eligibility.
  • Responsible for the completion of any information required in the NCAA transfer portal.
  • Assist other members of the Office of Athletic Compliance in developing and implementing new processes and procedures as deemed necessary to enhance the overall function of the office.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned by the Athletic Administration.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor’s degree required and 2-4 years of compliance experience within a Division I Athletics program.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and athletic compliance procedures.
  • Proficient in ARMS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent organizational skills.
  • High degree of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to interpret complex oral and written concepts.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to relate to a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.

  • Master’s degree
