Position Highlights:

The Program Manager position is responsible for managing the office of Student Life and Engagement and programs that support diversity, student life and community engagement. The Program Manager collaborates with the Office of Student Diversity and Community Engagement and with multiple stakeholders including College partners to facilitate creative student programming/events that support building an inclusive and engaging campus environment for students. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage comprehensive activities and programs for the Office of Student Life and Engagement that support the social and educational needs of Rush students in collaboration with the University colleges.

  • Manages student life, activities, and serves as liaison to student organizations and provides career services.

  • Supervises staff and department budgets. Keeps leadership informed of key issues that may impact students.

  • Research, design and implement best practice student leadership development programs appropriate for Rush students.

  • Supervise the operational functions of student support resources such as health insurance, housing, locker assignments, student handbooks, IDs, Picture Book and policies, etc.

  • Manage career development programs for students.

  • Develop and implement campus life partnerships and engagement strategy in alignment with the division of Student Affairs and the University's mission, vision goals and strategies.

  • Coach, mentor and motivate student leaders in event planning and serves as liaison for students.

  • Serve as an advocate for students, student organizations, and affinity groups.

  • Provide strategic guidance and input to leadership regarding the development and implementation of student programs.

  • Lead and participate in several University committees and attends meetings and events, as needed.

  • Hire, manage and supervise department and student staff, and oversee department training and orientation.

  • Establish consistent, objective program performance standards of accountability, including program evaluation.

  • Implement a system to manage and evaluate the skill, experience and professional development needs of all staff.

  • Instill a sense of accountability among team members by modeling tight oversight of individual and organization performance standards, develops objective performance measurements across all programs to ensure consistent, high-quality program.

  • Maintain a safe experience for students, staff, volunteers, and program participants through an active risk analysis and management of legal contract review and policies.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Position Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • 5 years of program management experience.

  • Supervisory or management experience.

  • Understands and/or has had an opportunity to work on equity issues in healthcare, social services, law, policy or other related areas.

  • Demonstrated success developing and evaluating program models, and selecting and successfully operationalizing innovative programs.

  • Proficient in using technology as a management-reporting tool and experience working with information technology staff to develop and implement program evaluation systems.

  • Strong project management skills managing complex, multi-faceted projects resulting immeasurable successes and program growth.

  • Strong planning and implementation skills, including problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of multi-functional and diverse teams and communities.

  • Experience having worked with a high-performing, collaborative, constructive peer group.

  • Demonstrated results in managing through complex systems and proven experience negotiating agreements.

  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders who may have conflicting priorities.

  • Experience working with diverse teams.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.

 

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Masters' Degree.

  • Experience in student development, academic support, career services and event planning for graduate students in higher education.

  • Proficient at time management, proven organization skills and extremely attentive to detail with exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
