Position Summary

Representing the Marketing and Communications Office within the Broad College of Business at Michigan State University, this position will be responsible for providing graphic design for print and digital promotional materials, publications and advertising assets. Specific job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: conceptualizing and designing various types of digital and print content, carrying through the design production process from idea origination to final product, including consultation on budget and creation of specs; working with writers to develop appropriate content; interfacing with and managing relationships with print vendors; distribution of media to others; functioning as an expert and resource on MSU branding and visual guidelines; designing appropriate imprints/decorations for College promotional items and merchandise, while considering size, purpose, and audience; conceptualizing and implementing a consistent design language throughout multiple publications and forms of media; provide support for Dean communications such as presentations and materials for donors and other stakeholders; maintain digital content on video screens throughout Broad College buildings; create engaging large-format environmental graphics to be placed around Broad College buildings; maintain an organized project file structure for team access; supervise student designer employee(s), including project management and providing feedback; and other duties as assigned to carry out the mission of the Broad College of Business and Michigan State University.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Graphic or Advertising Design or Commercial Art; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive experience in printing, typography, photography, electronic prepress, printing processes such as preflighting electronic files, prepress software applications , designing, typesetting and printing artwork, computer graphics and web page design software, the properties and uses of art materials and technical drawing and layout, ability to investigate and solve or recommend solutions to technical problems relating to electronic prepress; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with project management software, such as Asana

• Experience with web design and UI/UX, as well as HTML/CSS

• Experience with Wordpress CMS

• Adobe After Effects experience

• Photography experience

• Strong interpersonal skills
