Position Summary
  • Assists health care providers during examinations and treatments, records chief complaint; takes vital signs and records heath information in EMR.
  • Orders, updates, copies and files patient charts/medical records in order to ensure the availability for health care providers.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies; cleans and stocks examination rooms and treatment areas.
  • Completes and verified patient forms.
  • Schedules appointments; provides information; receives and routes calls and messages as required.
  • Greets patients; registers and directs patients to correct appointment areas by rooming patients
  • Obtains authorizations for referrals and procedures from insurance companies.
  • Ability to cross cover positions within scope of practice in the clinic.

  • Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

    Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a medical office setting or in a clinical setting performing routine health assessment tests; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires knowledge of electronic medical record and patient scheduling systems.

    • Requires certification as a medical assistant.

    Summary of Health Risks

    Exposure to human blood, serum, tissue and other body fluids; and materials covered under Universal Precautions; TB risk or work within three (3) feet of patients in a health care setting; wear a respirator. Covid precautions.
