The Haslam College of Business (HCB) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a full-time, non-exempt Administrative Associate in the Department of Business Analytics & Statistics.  Reporting to the Assistant Department Head, the position functions as the lead administrative assistant for the department and has responsibility for a wise variety of administrative functions.




  • Provide a broad range of administrative functions to support department and faculty activities
  • Coordinate and track tasks in SharePoint
  • Answer unusual questions received by other staff
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings
  • Ensure all faculty and staff pay requests are completed including overloads, ESP, term and full-time lecturer appointments
  • Provide administrative support for faculty searches
  • Verify scholarships
  • Compile promotion and tenure dossiers
  • Sign timesheets and manage leave requests
  • Oversee distribution of staff workload
  • Manage all administrative support services for the departments two master's programs and PhD program.
  • Assist department head with scheduling meetings and events
  • Manage conference room approvals
  • Take minutes at department meetings
  • Maintain the department printer
  • Resolve any IT or phone issues
  • Other duties as assigned


 Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • At least 3 years’ experience in equivalent positions

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 5 years’ experience in equivalent positions

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software; intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage time
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups
  • Leadership skills and ability to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of faculty and student records and other departmental records
  • Knowledge of SharePoint or Google Drive
  • ERP system skills
  • Ability to export data from an ERP system to merge with other data in order to create custom reports
  • Ability to comprehend fiscal policies
  • Ability to learn advanced technical skills

  • Passed CAP Exam
