Post-Doctoral Research Associate - Entomology & Plant Pathology

Regular Full-time, Pay Grade 00

The Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology is searching for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct research focused on a molecular plant virology pertaining to interactions of viruses with plant parasitic nematodes and soybean. Conducting independent research in the field, greenhouse, and laboratory settings

Expectations: Design and perform research plan under the supervision of Dr. M. R. Hajimorad, keep current and organized research records, data archival and preparation of reports, presentation of research data at professional and progress meetings, and preparation of data and manuscripts for publication in appropriate peer-reviewed journals.



Qualifications
Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Plant Pathology or Virology
  • Experience with plant viruses
  • Expertise with molecular virological methods including molecular characterization of viruses, site directed mutagenesis, synthesis of viral chimeras, and transient gene expression
  • Experience with Potyviruses and Picornaviruses
  • Good command of qualitative and quantitative methods used in agricultural research
  • Conscience etiquette for working chemical safety
  • Superior English  writing and speaking communication skills required
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States

Salary Range: $36-50k commensurate with experience, successful manuscript publication and grantsmanship.
