About Us

The Student Organizations Finance Office (SOFO), part of the Division of Student Life, provides financial support to ensure the success of Georgia Tech’s student-led organizations. SOFO serves as the student groups’ on-campus bookkeeper by effectively managing collected dues, fundraising, and expenditures as well as travel planning, expenses, and reimbursements. The Student Organization Finance Office supports student organizations by assisting them with their financial management needs.

Job Summary Verify and post a variety of financial transactions in accordance with accounting principles and Institute policy. Compile and analyze financial data, often complex in structure, and generate related schedules and reports. May provide guidance and work direction to other accounting personnel. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: co workers and other campus financial personnel. This position typically will advise and counsel: other accounting personnel. This position will supervise: NAResponsibilities
    Compile and verify the accuracy and validity of complex accounting transactions, often requiring in-depth analysis and resolutionPrepare reconciliations of a variety financial dataPost and or review posting of transactions to appropriate accountsPrepare and review financial schedules and reportsMaintain financial recordsPrepare budget revisions, as neededMay provide explanations and/or work direction to other accountants and clerical personnel regarding more complex assignmentsPerform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Three years of job related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

This job requires application of advanced accounting principles and practices as they relate to recording and reporting financial transactions and related data within university business units. Analytical and problem solving skills are needed as is advanced use of business and accounting related computer applications.
