The Project Services Department at the University of Virginia’s Facilities Management has an exciting opportunity for candidates seeking a career with Facilities Management. We have multiple Environmental Remediation Technician positions, where the selected candidates will be trained to remove asbestos and lead from a wide variety of surfaces. The incumbent provides installation of a wide variety of insulation in renovation and new construction. Individuals must maintain compliance with all policies and procedures to include EPA, NIOSH and OSHA and University requirements. Successful candidates are required to complete and pass the annual Respirator Fit Test. Candidates must be mechanically inclined with the ability to operate hand tools. This position requires the ability to work altering shifts. Environmental Remediation Technicians must have the ability to communicate through oral and written communications.

Required Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: None.

Preferred Experience: Knowledge of EPA, NIOSH and OSHA requirements on Environmental Remediation; Experience with asbestos, lead and mold removal and insulation applications.

Licensure: Valid Driver's License. Ability to follow through with required safety and licensure screening/requirements. Ability to obtain a DPOR Asbestos License within 60 days.

All selected candidates must complete all required background checks prior to the start date of the position.

Position Compensation Range: $15.00 - $18.50 Hourly

Physical Demands:

The employee must be able to variously sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, lift, pull, and use both hands on repetitive tasks (including overhead tasks). The employee must have normal vision and hearing (correctable), and for some areas of employment, color vision and sense of smell.
