The Biology Department Bloom Lab is seeking a Part-Time Wage Lab Tech. This position will primarily involve quantitative light microscopy. More specifically, the successful applicant will perform some or all of the following activities: fixation and immunofluorescence labeling of cultured mammalian cells; immunofluorescence labeling of mouse and human brain tissue sections; taking light micrographs of the aforementioned fluorescently labeled cells and tissues; and rigorous quantitative analysis of the micrographs using applications such as ImageJ, Nikon Elements and other similar software packages.
This is a part-time position and will remain open until filled.
This position is contingent on continued funding.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. A Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related subject, or at least 3 years as a full time undergraduate student in pursuit of such a degree is preferred.
Experience: At least 1 year of lab experience, which may include student experience. Bachelor's degree will be considered in lieu of experience. At least 6 months experience with quantitative analysis of light micrographs is preferred.
This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
