Coordinator, Fitness Programs
Duties include but are not limited to: the creation and implementation of a semester based group exercise class schedule consisting of a variety of formats lead by student instructors; coordination of an instructor training and certification program; direct oversight of equipment inventory and preventative maintenance management and/or replacement as it relates to group fitness programming; budgetary oversight for all group fitness programming; and responsible for student staff personnel management related to group fitness programming.
Bachelor’s degree and one year of professional work experience within fitness and/or recreation. Candidates with a Master’s degree and a fitness graduate assistantship will also meet the requirement. An offer is contingent on verification of degree and experience by the start date. Primary group fitness certification from an accredited, national association (AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NASM, NETA). Demonstrated ability to teach and conduct choreographed 32-count fitness classes and lead new instructor training for at least three formats such as dance, cycling, choreographed aerobics, yoga, pilates, and/or barre. Strong computer skills for the processing of facility, fiscal, and personnel management. Preferred Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Public Health, Physical Education, or closely related field from an accredited college or university; demonstrated supervisory experience in managing a diverse fitness program to include programming and staffing; CPR, AED and First Aid-Professional Rescue Instructor certified; Health Coach Certification or similar; and experience working in a collegiate recreation environment. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
