Position Highlights:

The College invites skilled Medical Education Program Professional II - Program Coordinators to apply for a key position on our high energy team in the Center for Simulation and Innovation (CSI). The CSI combines state-of-the-art high- and low-fidelity simulation with immersive and integrated clinical skills experiences. CSI Program Coordinators actively participate in hundreds of these events each year. This leading-edge environment fosters student progression in a safe setting with the supervision, guidance and feedback of outstanding faculty and experienced medical professionals.

This position reports to the Program Manager, Center for Simulation and Innovation. The successful candidate will act as a primary contact for the Center and provide excellent, hands-on simulation support to faculty, students, colleagues, and community partners. The CSI's fast-moving team collaboratively ensures best practices, processes and procedures are used to ensure CSI’s short- and long-term goals, priorities, time limits, funding and other requirements. This position supports a wide variety of clients and community partners that utilize the CSI, including the UA Colleges of Medicine - Phoenix, Nursing, and Pharmacy, plus NAU and other key Phoenix Biomedical Campus and clinical partners.

Primary responsibilities include simulation event logistics (set-up,running events, re-set); simulation equipment and technology support; CSI operations support and subject matter expertise; resource and event management; other duties as assigned. Key support roles include staffing projects and events; close communications with the team to successfully implement time- and resource-sensitive programs, projects and events; coordination of daily activities with internal and external team members.

Duties & Responsibilities:

SIMULATION EVENT LOGISTICS (Setup, Running Events, Re-set):

  • Provides timely and accurate team and event planning, preparation, organization, implementation (setting and re-set) of simulation lab rooms, equipment, technology, supplies and other resources for scheduled healthcare simulations, debriefings, tours and other events.
  • Supports participants in use and best practices of simulation equipment, providing an appropriate orientation to simulator and task trainer features in the simulated learning environment.
  • Conducts CSI tours and events for participants of all educational levels. Presents and walks participants through simulation stations, demonstrating and explaining use and value of simulation in an experiential, hands-on, engaging manner. May also provide same as initial training to prospective and on-boarding staff and faculty.
  • Orders, tracks, manages, and maintains equipment and supply inventory levels within the inventory control system. Identifies and submits order requests for low inventory items on a regular basis to purchase and replenish equipment and supplies at optimal levels as determined by management.
  • Follows departmental and college guidelines, and appropriately verifies and records transactions in related departmental tracking applications.

SIMULATION EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT:

  • Maintains current knowledge on the use, operation, troubleshooting and best practices of varied simulation equipment plus hardware, software and network equipment, technologies and applications used in the Sim Center.
  • Trains or explains equipment and technology to various event participants, including faculty.
  • Serves as Simulation Operator running simulations at the direction of faculty / instructors and staff.
  • Acts as backup to the Simulation Center Technician, delivering daily event support to the faculty, students, staff and guests as needed.
  • Assures simulation equipment, kits and supplies are in place, and in good working condition prior to the start of all simulations.

CSI OPERATIONS SUPPORT AND SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTISE:

  • Leads and participates in huddles and team meetings to facilitate, plan, confirm and secure resources and details for all events held in the Center.
  • Provides scheduling and event implementation support for aspects of simulation staffing (full and part time personnel). This includes daily and weekly event assignments to ensure complete support and coverage.
  • Precepts new and experienced personnel in all related implementation activities. Provides appropriate feedback, mentoring, documentation and related communications and recommendations to assure peer and event success.
  • Assists Simulation Center staff in day to day activities as needed, including flexible work hours on events that occasionally require after hours support to assure successful outcomes.
  • Supports CSI in a variety of supplementary roles to ensure timely and clear communication paths, event success, and ongoing engagement with all stakeholders. This includes recommending and updating reports and systems including team best practices to ensure excellent and timely client support.
  • Works proficiently and effectively in CSI and College programs and systems to assure highest quality outcomes for all parties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:

  • Demonstrates excellent communications and interpersonal skills that establish and maintain trusted working relationships with all internal and external partners at varying levels, including students, staff, faculty, executives and community partners.
  • Provides outstanding customer service. Anticipates client needs; answers urgent questions and appropriately communicates with staff, faculty, students and stakeholders to provide helpful input and direction for all.
  • Stays educated and informed, able to professionally represent CSI and the College on elements that may affect campus events and team responsibilities.
  • Provides departmental coverage (primary and secondary) to greet and direct clients and students, supporting a wide variety of courses and clientele that utilize CSI.
  • May be assigned support roles for specific courses, clients or events for whom more complex end-to-end event implementation may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is typically required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Clinical experience in health care delivery and/or health education.

• Experience working with different types of medical equipment.

• Experience with high fidelity and low fidelity simulation equipment.

• Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications relevant to academics and simulation function.

• Proficient with web-based computer programs (GoogleDocs and Box) and Microsoft Office suite, scheduling, simple accounting, spreadsheets, email.
