Position Highlights:

The Office of General Education at the University of Arizona is seeking an educator or educational developer to join the GE team, working with instructors (tenure-track, tenured, career-track, graduate students) to support their work in the General Education program. The team promotes evidence-based and inclusive teaching practices, innovative strategies, and the use of technology such as ePortfolios to shape a rich and inclusive learning environment for students at the University of Arizona. We seek a new team member to expand our capacity for assessment and instructional support. This position will be responsible for assisting in the design, implementation and assessment of instructional support and professional development for GE instructors as well as assisting in data collection and analysis for assessment across multiple levels for the new GE Refresh program. Clear communication, positive interaction, and cooperation among the General Education Office team, faculty/staff working groups, and GE collaborators are essential. The position reports to the Directors of Instructional Support and Assessment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the collection and analysis of data from both programmatic and course level assessments within the new program, including but not limited to student ePortfolio signature assignment data
  • Support maintenance of assessment databases for programmatic based assessment artifacts and findings
  • Support the development and design of instructional support and professional development offerings for general education instructors using evidence-based and inclusive pedagogies
  • Support diversity, inclusivity and Universal Design in the design and implementation of instructional support and professional development offerings
  • Support the implementation of instructional support and professional development offerings, including but not limited to coordinating logistics of events/courses/programs, creating materials, and teaching/facilitating in-person and online offerings
  • Support the collection and analysis of data and create responsive action plans to incorporate feedback from instructors into instructional support and professional development offerings
  • Additional duties may be assigned

  • Knowledge of outcomes assessment at both the course and program levels
  • Organizational skills and efficiency in completion of tasks
  • Knowledge of how people learn and best practices in learner-centered teaching
  • Understanding and use of culturally responsive teaching strategies and intercultural competence
  • Strong ability of listening, interpreting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain computer files in an orderly manner
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a collaborative team
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an academic discipline (preferred in education, educational psychology, human development or related discipline)
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience required, including teaching experience at the college or university level with evidence of successful implementation of evidence-based instructional practices in undergraduate courses, and experience working with quantitative data and analytics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with helping instructors in adapting their teaching strategies to incorporate inclusive and evidence-based teaching methods
  • Experience teaching in multiple modalities (hybrid, online)

Our Main and Health Sciences campuses are located near downtown Tucson.
