Position Highlights:

The BIO5 Media Facility at the University of Arizona is looking for a part-time Research Technician II to assist with updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), while training new employees to follow SOPs in all aspects of laboratory functioning.

The duties in this position also include assisting with production of chemical media, inputting data for new products into database, inventory tracking (chemicals, consumables and supply items), submitting supply orders, receiving orders upon arrival and working collaboratively with the facility’s staff to perform annual inventory. The Research Technician will assist with Glassware Services, to provide clean, sterile glassware, and plastic ware to lab members located in the Thomas W. Keating Bioresearch laboratories and in the Medical Research Building. This includes operating and maintaining lab equipment and interfacing with service technicians.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with production of Media products and glass washing
  • Communicate with customers regarding facility service issues
  • Assist with input new inventory into the product management database
  • Assist and place inventory replenishment orders for facility
  • Assist with review and submitting of monthly billing
  • Assist with creation of new customer accounts and manage existing customer profiles within database
  • Assist with annual physical inventory report
  • Assist with updating facility’s Standard Operating Procedures
  • Additional duties may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and related research experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
  • Background in production of chemical media.
