Job Summary Program Support Specialist I – Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Position Description:

This is a part-time 12 month position (19 hours/week) at the Forest Lakes Golf Club at ABAC. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for assisting the Superintendent in the operating functions of the golf course maintenance and pro shop operations. The duties include: turfgrass/plant material maintenance programs, property/asset management, assisting with forecasting and expense management, scheduling and maintenance of irrigation systems, pesticide applications, assist with job scheduling and responsibilities, supervise the safe use and maintenance of the golf course equipment by employees and compliance of regulatory issues as directed by the Superintendent. Some weekend and evening work is required. Position will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

    High school diploma or equivalent with one year of relevant experience. Advanced degrees will be considered in lieu of experience.Must be able to perform work outside in all types of weather conditions.Ability to work well under pressure, coordinating multiple tasks at any given time.Technical and working knowledge of all equipment, products, and other resources related to golf course operations.Excellent communications skills, demonstrated technical excellence, and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.Diplomatic team player able to foster relationships with members, employees, partners, and guests.Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting and carrying heavy items (over 50 pounds).Must have a valid driver’s license. Private Pesticide Applicator license is required or must obtain within 6 months employment.
Desired Qualifications:

    Additional years of relevant golf course maintenance experience.Advanced degree in environmental horticulture or agronomy (Associate’s or Bachelor’s)
