Position Summary:

The Institute of Environmental Health Solutions is seeking a postdoctoral scholar in metals toxicology. The incumbent will work with the Fry and Styblo laboratories in the Gillings School of Global Public Health and the Institute of Environmental Health Solutions to identify solutions for metals-induced disease. The incumbent will participate in a project that will examine metabolic phenotypes of mice and exposed pre and postnataly to arsenic and will identify the potential epigenetic underpinnings/mechanisms associate with health effects tired to these exposures.

Educational Requirements:

A PhD in toxicology, molecular biology and/or environmental health sciences is required.

Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates must have a strong background in metals toxicology, The role will serve as a primary coordinator for mouse model-based research and thus candidates must have extensive history in animal handling, housing, care, and dosing. The candidate must also have a strong molecular biology background which includes DNA extraction, RNA extraction, CHIP assays, qRT-PCR , western blots, ELISA assays and CpG methylation analysis. Knowledge of all areas is required for this position. Additionally, knowledge of methods used for metabolic phenotyping is a plus. It is preferred that candidates have prior publications in toxicology, with special focus on metals toxicology.
