The TEACCH Autism Program at the University of North Carolina has an opening for a Staff Psychologist at our TEACCH Center in Asheville, North Carolina. The Staff Psychologist will hold a position as Clinical Assistant Professor (fixed-term faculty), in the Department of Psychiatry, UNC School of Medicine.
The TEACCH Autism Program began in 1972 as a system of university-based regional centers to serve children, adolescents and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families. As part of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the program has an active clinical, teaching, and research program. TEACCH operates seven community regional clinics across the state and a vocational/residential facility for adults with ASD. Each center offers a set of core services along with unique programs meeting the needs of individuals with ASD, their families, and professionals across the state of North Carolina. TEACCH is part of the North Carolina Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) program and faculty are actively involved in student and professional training activities within the state, nation, and across the world. All TEACCH programs are coordinated through a central administration and research unit in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
The Asheville Center is specifically seeking a staff psychologist with significant Diagnostic/Assessment experience. Clinical responsibilities include a diagnostic and treatment caseload and community consultation. Responsibilities may also include delivery of local, national, and international training programs depending on the interests of the candidate. Clinical supervision may also be expected. In keeping with the overall mission of TEACCH, the psychologist may also assist in research or the development of innovative care models in addition to clinical and training activities. Recruitment is ongoing until filled. The ideal candidate will start on or before January 1, 2022.Educational Requirements:
Minimum requirements for this position include previous clinical training and experience in assessment and treatment of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, completion of an APA-accredited PhD/PsyD clinical, school or related doctoral program, and completion of an APA-accredited internship.Qualifications and Experience:
Candidates must be licensed and credentialed as a psychologist in the state of North Carolina within 30 days of hire. Salary will be commensurate with rank and experience.Equal Opportunity Employer:
