Established in 1996, the Park Scholarships program brings exceptional students to NC State University based on outstanding accomplishments and potential in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The program develops and supports Park Scholars in these areas, preparing them for lifelong contributions to the university, state, nation, and world. About 40 Scholars are selected annually. The scholarship includes tuition and fees, room and board, enrichment activities, and additional expenses. Diversity and inclusion are critical to the Park Scholarships program. This position is 30-40 hours/week (ideally 40 hours/week) and can be 100% remote, 100% in our NC State office, or hybrid with flexible working hours.Other Work/Responsibilities:
The Program Assistant is a temporary position for 3 months, from July to September 2021.
The Program Assistant will have responsibilities executing a variety of recruiting and selection activities. The employee must be able to work independently, handle ambiguity, manage multiple projects and deadlines, communicate well in person and in writing, and exercise superior judgment. The Program Assistant must interact confidently and effectively with a wide variety of constituents: students, alumni, Selection Committee members, vendors, and others. Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:
- Coordinate a variety of recruiting activities to help the Park Scholarships reach a diverse audience
- Assist in the development of printed recruiting materials
- Draft written communication (e.g., emails, website updates, and social media content) for prospective students and families;
coordinate with colleagues to distribute communications
- Coordinate a mailing with a vendor for ~1,000 Park Scholarships endorsing high schools
- Update and test the Park Scholarships application, endorsement forms, and Selection Committee training materials
- Assist with handling written, phone, and in-person inquiries from program constituents including applicants, parents, high school officials, Selection Committee members, alumni, faculty, etc.
- Assist with initial preparations for candidate interviews
- Other duties as assignedMinimum Experience/Education:
Required: bachelor’s degree; experience with managing multiple projects and written communication; proficiency with Google suite, particularly Gmail and Google Drive.Department Required Skills:
