Job Summary

The Department of Chemistry and Physics seeks to hire a laboratory technician to support laboratory instruction in chemistry and physics laboratories. The laboratory technician must have 1) a BS/BA in chemistry or related sciences, 2)the requisite laboratory skills to carry out their duties and responsibilities, Those skills include-1) Knowledge of safety protocols, 2) Knowledge of good laboratory practices, 3) Excellent verbal and written communication skills, 4) Ability to set up laboratory experiments for chemistry, and physics, 5)Ability to prepare standardized media, reagents, and solutions, 6) Ability to operate and maintain standard science laboratory instrumentation.

    Sets up and breaks down laboratory experiments and demonstration equipment for teaching labs and lecture courses.Monitors student assistants to ensure prudent lab practices are upheld.Prepares solutions and media and handles chemical waste.Operates and maintains standard laboratory equipment.Conducts inventories of lab supplies, chemicals, and equipment.Observes and enforces all laboratory safety rules.Keeps laboratory facilities and equipment clean and sanitary.Coordinates the ordering of Laboratory equipment and suppliesAdditional duties as defined by job growth and noted by Laboratory Manager and Department Chair.
Required Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

Bachelor’s degree in a natural science.


One year of related experience




Knowledge of laboratory and safety practices.


Excellent verbal and written, interpersonal, and computer technology skills.


Ability to set up laboratory experiments for chemistry, and physics courses; Ability to prepare standardized media, reagents, and solutions; Ability to operate and maintain standard science laboratory instrumentation.
