Research Specialist - Georgetown University Medical Center

Requirements

The purpose of the Research Specialist position is to assist in the conduct of research related to scientific projects, including planning and assisting with data collection, conducting data analysis, and presenting and disseminating research results in a viewer-friendly manner. This position entails involvement in collaborative projects with other researchers including students, staff and faculty, as well as the conduction of individual projects. This individual will also be responsible for working with the budget analyst to maintain and organize spending of funds and incoming funds. In addition, they will be responsible for the purchasing life cycle, from vendor initiation to generation of receipts. This individual will maintain the lab under EH&S standards and prepare for annual inspections.

The Research Specialist position will report to the Principal Investigator (P.I.) and work under general supervision of both the P.I. and junior faculty. Their managerial duties will have a significant influence on productivity of the environment in the laboratory and will be required to maintain professional relationships with not only all research members, but also staff outside of the laboratory, including the building manager, suppliers, the finance department, etc. This position's involvement in scientific projects will be beneficial for the overall research of the laboratory and the department.

Qualifications
  • Minimum requirements for this position include a Bachelor's degree of Science and 0-2 years of related experience.
  • This individual must have an understanding of biological concepts and technical research applications, as well as, have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.


Preferred qualifications
  • Desired qualifications include familiarity with Cancer Research.
