Procurement Legal Adviser IT - Georgetown University

Requirements

The primary responsibility of the Procurement Legal Advisor is to perform legal review and risk mitigation in the area of procurement contracts.

The Procurement Legal Advisor is responsible for the preparation, review, and administration of proposals and contracts relating to Information Technology. They will negotiate contracts to ensure procurement agreement are structured in the best interest of the University. They then shepherd contracts through the approval process and final execution.

The Procurement Legal Advisor will report directly to the Director of Contracts. The Procurement Legal Advisor will have direct oversight of Contract Managers. The Procurement Legal Advisor provides legal expertise in a variety of the concepts, practices, and procedures related to purchasing contracts.

Work Interactions

The Procurement Legal Advisor will act as a liaison between the University and Suppliers to ensure all informational and financial needs are met for all contracts. They will also work closely with Strategic Sourcing to ensure sourcing aspects are approved prior to submitting an agreement for signature. They will work with University Information Services to manage all Technology aspects of a proposal or contract. They will work with the Office of General Counsel to collaborate on legal issues when necessary.

Qualifications
  • At least 5 - 7 years of experience in IT contract drafting, review and negotiations
  • Extensive experience in legal review of contracts
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Writing proficiency
  • Ability to participate in significant customer interaction and demonstrate problem-solving abilities


Preferred Qualifications
  • Possess a law degree from an accredited American Bar Association law school.
