MURP is consistently ranked as one of the nation's top professional planning programs with full accreditation from the Planning Accreditation Board (PAB). Under the direction of the Program Director and Urban Planning and Public Policy (UPPP) Department Administrator, the Assistant Director is responsible for the strategic leadership, management, and oversight of the Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) degree program. Using skills as a seasoned, experienced student services professional, provides the full range of student services within UPPP for the MURP degree program. Independently advises students and resolves student services-related issues on the full range of academic issues inherent within the organization. Advises faculty and management on a variety of student issues. Works with the department's and school's leadership to recommend changes to policies, practices, and procedures. Guidance on issues requiring in-depth knowledge of specialized programs is provided by offices specializing in those fields, e.g., the financial aid office, graduate division, or student learning center, OR by the chair and faculty of the department. The position will oversee and manage on-going marketing for the program, student recruitment and admissions, support and oversight of enrolled students, management of financial resources, instructional support, and program administration. Compensation Range: Annually: $45,900.00 - $70,100.00 Department Website: https://uppp.soceco.uci.edu/ Required: Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.Working knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.Solid verbal and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with enrolled and prospective students from a variety of social, cultural, economic and education backgrounds.Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with faculty, students, university staff and clients.Multicultural competencies: ability to work with diverse populations.Ability in problem identification and reasoning; ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance.Experience working in a team environment.Thorough working knowledge and prior experience in seminar coordination, event planning, and scheduling coordination.Ability to maintain effective leadership, as well as teamwork, in planning and carrying out complex programs and activities.Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to include strong email communication skills. Proofreading experience and excellent attention to detail.Proficiency with computerized databases and MS Office software. Preferred: Knowledge of University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.Knowledge of complex U.S. visa and immigration procedures, compliance issues, and employment eligibility/authorization for international students and scholars.Experience working with financial accounts and budget management.Experience in recruiting, admissions, and management of a degree-granting program.Experience working in an academic environment.Knowledge of UC policies and procedures for distance learning education.Familiarity with student recruitment processes. Previous marketing experience, with good understanding and awareness of the commercial environment and market trends for the online distance-learning market. Master's Degree in a relevant field. Final candidate subject to background check.
