Position Description:
UCLA's External Affairs (EA) division encompasses Advancement Services, Alumni Affairs, Development, and Government & Community Relations. The Employee and Organizational Engagement (EOE) unit performs vital services to EA departments and all of their employees. Staff of this unit facilitate and support the broad range of its customers' activities through a variety of value-added services including human resources, organizational development & learning and talent acquisition. EOE is a key partner in major endeavors across EA that span a wide variety of human capital initiatives.

Reporting to the Director, the Associate Director, Human Resources (HR) will oversee and direct the daily operations of the human resources unit within External Affairs. This individual will devise and execute initiatives to streamline and measure processes that foster EA accountability and effectiveness. Responsibilities will include consulting with managers and supervisors on performance management and working with the Director to interpret and apply regulations, policy and precedent as appropriate in regards to HR operations. The Associate Director, HR will independently set priorities and oversee functions in accordance with division and university payroll schedules, policy manuals, and External Affairs procedures. This individual will also supervise professional and support staff as appropriate.

The Associate Director, will work closely with the Director, EOE HR and serve as an internal consultant and coach to supervisors and employees on personnel issues and foster a workplace environment consistent with the department's values and mission. This position will actively collaborate with the Director on long-range plans and organizational development and on labor, budget reporting, payroll transactions, and other fiscal activities. In addition, the Associate Director, EOE will serve as the representative and present on the behalf of the EOE unit to senior EA leadership, EA managers, EA staff and at campus-wide meetings.
