Research Project Manager, Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center -- Georgetown University Medical Center

The Research Project Manager plays a pivotal role for LCCC's research mission. Reporting to LCCC's Associate Director for Administration and Planning (ADAP), the Research Project Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • Serve as project manager for the LCCC P30 Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG), including the following
    • Management of the annual noncompetitive renewal application
    • Management of the competitive renewal application
    • Management of all NCI CCSG supplemental applications as requested by the LCCC Director and ADAP
    • Management of CCSG-related pilot projects
  • Manage all Executive Committee and Consortium meetings, in accordance with NCI guidelines and expectations
  • Serve as liaison to LCCC's consortium partner in NJ, the John Theurer Cancer Center (JTCC)
  • Ensure all Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG)-relevant materials and data points are maintained.
  • Certify reports are accessible and regularly distributed to LCCC Leadership.
  • Oversee all LCCC Research Program Coordinators, the Metrics & Analytics Coordinator.
  • Support the LCCC Administrative Team, and other cancer center leaders, in preparing documents, reports, and presentations for the CCSG.

In collaboration with LCCC Administrative Leadership, this position will also:
  • Maintain and manage standard operation procedures, affiliated with their role.
  • Work to document past and future activities across the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.

These functions are performed in accordance with Georgetown University Medical Center's philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.

Work Interactions

The Research Project Manager will report to the Associate Director of Administration and planning. The incumbent will supervise the program coordinators and metrics and analytics coordinator and work closely with senior leadership, GUMC Administration, Office of Sponsored Research and Research Development Services, and HMH/JTCC Administration.

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 6-8+ years of work experience in research administration. Cancer center and academic medical center experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pre- and post-award grants management. NCI P30 experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with NIH and NCI and other peer-review funding agencies
  • Ability to extract data from multiple sources, including NIH Reporter, NIH PubMed, and other sources
  • Knowledge of database development and management
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with ability to synthesize information and communicate clearly.
  • Experience drafting executive-level materials and preparing and delivering information rapidly and effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively work with cross-functional team in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Adobe Pro, Google Applications, Workday
  • Certified Research Administrator preferred
