Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Dispatcher (full-time, position with benefits) in the Department of Public Safety.
Duties will include, but are not limited to: serve as a point of contact person for University communications; take and dispatch routine and emergency calls over the computer and/or phone; use two-way radios to public safety units; utilize the computerized aided dispatching (CAD) system; act as operator of PBX phone switchboard serving as an informational contact for the University; direct customers and provide information regarding university activities, office hours, and determine which department/area or person the caller needs; operate computerized alarm monitoring system, computerized security camera system and operate campus emergency notification system when appropriate, including the Mass Communication System, CCU Alert, All Call Emergency radio, and Weather Radio; use, maintain and update the License Plate Reader (LPR) system; grant or deny access to gate parking lot areas around campus; maintain required certifications; NCIC, NIMS (National Incident Management System), CPR, AED, and 911 Telecommunications (2 week training at SCJA); attends all mandatory training’s and monthly dispatch meetings; and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and experience in one of the following areas: communications, switchboard exchange operations, clerical accounting, billing or working with the general public is required. Must have or be able to obtain the SCCJA E-911 Telecommunication Officer certification within 1 year of hire date.
