Nature of Work

The University of Colorado Denver, School of Dental Medicine has an opening for a full-time Professional Research Assistant. He/she will conduct developmental genetics and molecular biology research, as well as assist with day to day laboratory operations and laboratory management.

Example of Work

  • Developmental biology techniques including micro injection, RNA in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, embryo manipulation, light microscopy and flow cytometry.
  • Molecular biology protocols such as DNA cloning, CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis, PCR-based genotyping, KASP genotyping, qPCR, RNAseq library preparation. 
  • Zebrafish husbandry including crossing and rearing fish, finclipping, cryopreservation, and in vitro fertilization.
  • Lab management tasks, preparing solutions, cleaning glassware and ordering reagents.
  • Present experiment results at lab meetings                                                                                                                                Perform all research compliance activities required by the University of Colorado Denver-Anschutz Medical Campus
  • Perform general administrative duties as requested within lab
  • Other related duties as assigned by PI
Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position has been established at $36,500 to $45,000.  

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in life sciences such as cell biology or molecular biology Two or more years’ experience conducting research
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Zebrafish experience and knowledge of vertebrate development
  • 2 years of research experience in cell development biology
Condition of Employment:

    Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offender background check
