Initiates diagnostic laboratory tests and other procedures as medically indicated. Makes medical assessments and initiates treatment plans within established protocols under the direction of the physician. Documents the patient history, physical and emotional state, diagnostic findings, and treatment in the patient's medical record/EMR. Reviews and discusses with patient the results of laboratory and other procedures.
Makes medically indicated referrals to other specialists/consultants as necessary. Confers with physician regarding patient management when appropriate. Assists in patient triage, phone inquiries, and orientation and training of personnel assisting with patient care as needed.
Attends and participates on committees, conducts case presentations, and performs special projects and other duties as assigned. Actively participates in the revision of Nurse Practitioner protocols annually. Assists in the development of educational and instructional materials and programs, when indicated.Qualifications
Graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes.
Experience in performing medical and mental health evaluations/exams, initiating laboratory tests and procedures, interpretation and assessment of tests/procedures, initiating medical procedures and developing treatment plans.
Previous experience in an outpatient primary care setting, including direct patient care.
Previous experience with Electronic Medical Records.
