The Office of the President (OP) seeks a Strategic Initiatives Coordinator who thrives in a fast paced environment, enjoys being part of a small collaborative team and has the ability to multitask quickly and professionally in response to competing demands. The successful candidate will have patience, flexibility, a high level of professionalism, a keen sense of priorities, and a very high level of tact and discretion.
Under the direction of and working in close coordination with the Chief of Staff/Associate Vice President (AVP) for Strategic Initiatives, the Coordinator will provide support for various institutional strategic initiatives led from the Office of the President and assist the Chief of Staff/AVP with the implementation and management of activities related to the University’s strategic plan and annual evaluations of progress toward strategic plan goals.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Support the AVP for Strategic Initiatives with the planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of special projects and strategic initiatives, including but not limited to:
Help develop goals, action steps, and timelines for strategic initiatives.
Coordinate, lead, and assist with projects and daily activities related to institutional strategic initiatives and objectives.
Work with a variety of departments/individuals throughout the institution to support the implementation of priority initiatives.
Collect, review, and develops communication tools to disseminate information regarding initiatives.
Prepare information for diverse audiences, including executive level.
Gathers and analyzes data from multiple sources across campus to inform planning and implementation of strategic initiatives, and to help generate status reports and quantify the impact of various strategic initiatives.
Set up and organize meetings pertaining to projects.
Apply expertise and think creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.
Complete other related duties and special projects as assigned.
This position may be may be required to work outside of typical business hours.
Required Education and Experience :
Working knowledge of higher education industry.
Manage competing priorities, work simultaneously on multiple initiatives, and meet deadlines.
Strong project-management skills, including ability to set up, organize, and oversee complex, high-stakes projects in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment.
Demonstrated ability to teach oneself new skills/procedures and quickly adapt to rapid change.
High degree of political acuity and judgment.
Strong research, writing, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Proven record of working independently and exercising sound judgment, taking ownership and initiative with minimal direction when needed.
Skilled in supporting large strategic projects from conception through successful conclusion.
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications.
