Department Summary:

The Gibson D. Lewis Health Science Library serves the education, research, and patient care needs of all programs and individuals at the UNT Health Science Center and also serves as a resource library for the National Library of Medicine. Lewis Library also operates the library for JPS Health Network and provides administrative support to the South Central Academic Medical Libraries Consortium.

Position Overview:

Responsible for maintaining a dynamic web presence and information resources for the UNTHSC Lewis Library. Designs, develops, and maintains complex websites and web applications for Lewis Library. Provides oversight for the library’s social media channels.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five years experience with content management system, preferable Drupal. Working knowledge and demonstrated practical ability in coding web development solutions using web programming languages. Understanding of contemporary
web design trends as well as the techniques and the technical and functional processes required to execute formats for integrated usage across Web and electronic media. Experience working in an academic setting.

Work Schedule:

8 to 5 typically, but some non-traditional work hours such as nights and weekends in the event of outages or updates may be required for website continuity.

Develops and maintains the department’s website through the university’s content management system. Observes defined university branding
guidelines and employs best practices in user interface, navigation, accessibility, search engine optimization, security, and responsiveness.

o:

Assist Lewis Library with planning, development, and implementation of web solutions. Consults with and provides support to faculty and staff with
website-related needs. Recommends and coordinates solutions.

o:

Designs, develops, and maintains web applications.

o:

Develops graphics and edits images in support of the department’s website and social media. Serves as a member of the library promotions
team.

o:

Monitors websites for security, compliance, and quality and uses web analytics and social media to improve website usability and value.
