Job Description:

Design and Conduct Studies and Projects in Medical Education Research and Scholarship. Assists the Director of Educational Development and Research, faculty and trainees in the design and implementation of medical education research and scholarship (both quantitative and qualitative), to include program evaluation and individual assessment of projects or curricula surrounding topics related to medical education and quality improvement and patient safety. Responsible for project and study management, and assessment of feasibility. Conduct oversight of regulatory documents (e.g., Institutional Review Board, Quality Improvement Project Registry). Identify evidence-based metric tools or the development of such (psychometric work) and data collection tools relating to competency-based assessment, program evaluation or research. Conduct relevant literature searches and assist with abstract and manuscript writing.

Data Management, Collection, and Processing. Work within existing databases and programs such as REDCap, Qualtrics, Google forms, and Excel to collect data points. Accurately enter data and metrics as part of study requirements, program evaluation, and institutional objectives. Perform data cleaning, address queries and conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy of data. Perform summary statistics for projects, program evaluation or projects and work with institutional statisticians where appropriate for advance statistical analyses for reporting and/or publications. Maintain master database files regarding projects and studies, research protocols and relating documents.

Communication. Compose clear, precise and detailed correspondence. Document, organize and maintain all correspondence. Oversee and follow through on questions and issues that arise during study conduct or projects. Serve as a liaison between internal departments, educational teams, regulatory agencies, funding agencies and other organizations. Communicate study related issues to investigators, sponsors, coordinating centers, research teams, managers, and the director. Develop a rapport with study participants, faculty, trainees and staff.

Education. Assist in developing educational materials (singular, curriculum or projects based) for investigators and the director, research support staff or research teams (as applicable) or for faculty, trainees and other learners as needed for program content. Train staff, interns, faculty and trainees in preparation and conduct of studies, projects or programs by utilizing adult learning principles and where applicable, curriculum develop strategies. Assist investigators and others in presentation, abstract and manuscript development. Complete required institutional trainings and serve as a resource to team members.

Management. Assist with the function of the center: day-to-day operations, communication, and scheduling. May include oversight of grant funds and reporting, and the center’s metrics. Recruit, manage and coordinate interns performing research, program evaluation or project-based tasks relating the center’s work.

Expected Salary:

$60,000 to commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have a Master’s degree and 1-2 years of experience or PhD.
