The ideal candidate will work hours in both the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City test centers. Schedule will be based on test center needs Monday through Thursday 8am-8pm and Friday 8am-5pm. Evenings may be required.

To advance the college’s mission, vision, principles, values, and strategic initiatives by providing courteous, efficient and accurate testing and certification services to students, faculty, staff, job-seekers, professionals, and community members.


With limited supervision the test center associate will administer and proctor both classroom and certification exams for Kirkwood students and community candidates. The test center associate will work closely with individuals of diverse needs and backgrounds which will require professional collaboration with department staff and faculty. The test center associate will serve candidates in various ways to include giving clear oral instructions, using various technologies, providing test accommodations, and performing clerical duties. Ideal candidate will work in both the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City test centers.

  • Provide positive support and strong customer service to students, other testing candidates, and Kirkwood employees.
  • Oversee testers using web based scheduling system, desktop monitoring software, and video surveillance tools.
  • Follow specific protocols and give clear instructions with efficiency.
  • Access appropriate tools for problem solving.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding candidate and exam information.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned. Examples include: reading exams aloud to candidates, virtually proctoring exams, working in other Learning Service areas, etc.

    Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.


    Working knowledge of or ability to learn multiple computer platforms. Equivalent to three years of employment experience in office or post-secondary setting OR an Associate’s degree.
