The Registrar's Office staff are committed to strong service excellence in supporting the academic and registrarial needs of current undergraduate, graduate and professional master’s students. These services include advising and administration as it relates to registration, financial need, scholarships & awards, and graduation. In addition, the Registrar’s Office is responsible forrecruitment and admissions of prospective students, administration of experiential learning opportunities (international, research, in-field learning courses), scheduling of academic courses and exams and providing faculty support. The staff in the Office work collectively toward enhancing the student experience while being committed to operating under principles of equity, diversity and inclusion.

Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Registrar & Director of Student Services, the Experiential Education Promotions and Outreach Coordinator contributes to promotions and outreach of experiential learning opportunities and professional placements for both the undergraduate Bachelor of Kinesiology (BKIN) and graduatelevel Master of Professional Kinesiology (MPK) programs within the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education. Under day-to-day supervision from the Assistant Registrar, Student Experience & Experiential Education, the incumbent develops, coordinates and executes communications plans and materials for placement promotion, orientation, and partnership development. The incumbent develops new relationships and liaises with community partners relative to the Faculty’s priorities in experiential education and oversees the recruitment and onboarding of placement partners.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Identifies and researches potential placement opportunities for placement students through various sources
  • Analyzing potential placement opportunities to determine suitability with student academic learning objectives
  • Acts as a keypoint person for external agencies seeking to partner with KPE on community outreach and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Regularly communicates with existing placement mentors including site visits & attendance at networking events
  • Prepare multifaceted marketing communications designed to engage varied stakeholders in the Faculty’s experiential learning opportunities.
  • Develops marketing & outreach plans that aim to reach prospective placement sites in key industry sectors and strengthen their commitment to placing students
  • Produce marketing and promotional outreach material in support of the Faculty’s experiential education goals.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business , communications, public relations, marketing or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum four years experience in building partnerships and developing work integrated learning opportunities.
  • Minimum four years experience in communications and marketing including producing print publications, marketing materials (print and digital), social media and developing marketing strategies
  • Experience within the health care, physical education and/or kinesiology sectors and developing strategic alliances.
  • Experience in business and relationship development.
  • Experience in market research and analysis, identification of target markets
  • Proven ability to create and manage partnerships internal & external to the University
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact with people from different backgrounds and at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working on multiple projects with competing deadlines; advanced project coordination and time management skills.
  • Must demonstrate strong professionalism; good judgment and tact; strong organizational skills; attention to detail; ability to implement, coordinate and follow-up on multiple projects; ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative; and a demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, administrators, alumni and external contacts.
  • Demonstrated behaviour that indicates personal commitment to innovation, teamwork, flexibility and integrity.
  • Familiarity with issues in the health care, physical education and professional kinesiology fields
  • Ability to understand, communicate and connect academic, educational and professional activities in placement settings
  • Demonstrated social media acumen; strong writing and copy editing skills; possess strong content creation skills and the demonstrated ability to conceptualize, carry out and evaluate an advertising campaign, including using social media and traditional advertising tools.
  • Demonstrated initiative both in uncovering and developing marketing opportunities and in using innovative vehicles for promotions and advertising.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; record of strong customer service, orientation, diplomacy and attention to detail.


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience developing and sustaining relationships and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in content-management solutions, new/emerging media and information technology.
  • Experience writing communication pieces, editing, researching, and reporting. Proven design capabilities and experience with web and graphic design software, InDesign, Illustrator, Image editing tools, e-newsletter tools and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of procurement process and experience working with outside vendors.

USW Pay Band 11 -- $66,326 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $84,818. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
