Position:
The College of Fine Arts and Communication invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, 10-month Lecturer position in Public Relations in the Department of Mass Communication beginning August 2021. The successful candidate must be committed to the university’s goal of inclusiveness and work effectively with persons of all races, genders, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations and religions.

 

Qualifications:
Earned master’s degree in public relations, mass communication, or related field. Demonstrated success or potential as a classroom teacher. Professional and teaching experiences in public relations and strategic communication or integrated marketing communications are highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

Faculty will be assigned the standard instructional workload of eight course units per academic year (4 course units per semester). Teach undergraduate courses in public relations among the following: Law and Ethics in Advertising and PR, Corporate Communication Management, PR Writing, PR Campaigns, Social Media and Strategic Communication, and Principles of PR. Opportunities might exist to teach other courses, including graduate courses, depending on the applicant’s area of specialty and the need of the department. Undergraduate advising is part of teaching responsibilities. Service to the department, college, and university is expected.

The Department:

The department (https://www.towson.edu/cofac/departments/mass-communication/) offers an undergraduate major in Mass Communication with tracks in advertising, journalism, and strategic public relations. At the graduate level, the department offers a Master of Science in Communication Management. The department annually enrolls over 600 majors served by 21 full-time faculty and over 20 part-time faculty.
