Job Summary

As a student worker for the Townsend Center, you learn the many aspects of event services and productions. This job is multi-faceted with continuous new learning opportunities. Each student begins in a tech maintenance role where you learn the total operation of event setup, event production, and event resets.

Some of the skills taught are:

    Setting up all production needs for a variety of event typesWorking back stage for productionsRunning lights and sound for lectures, dance, concerts, and moreClean up and strike after productionsUsing a variety of tools and equipment for the daily maintenance of the venueOther assignments as needed by the Supervisor

As a student worker gains more understanding and experience in event operations, other tasks are added as needed.

Some of these skills are:

    Ushering during eventsScanning and ticket inventory processesPre- and Post-show clean up in the audience seating areas and lobbyCustomer service for clients and guestsBox Office servicesOther assignments as needed by the Supervisor

This position does not have a set schedule. Many evenings and weekends are required during peak production weeks. During the off production times the schedule changes to daytime maintenance hours for cleaning projects.

It is a physically demanding job with tasks such as:

    Lifting up to 25 poundsPainting floors and setsSweeping and mopping Dusting and cleaning lighting instrumentsStanding for long periods of time Unloading trucks of equipment for event setups
Required Qualifications

Must be a current University of West Georgia student enrolled for six credit hours and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative grade-point average unless otherwise noted/indicated by the hiring department.
Lift up to 25 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

2.5 GPA. Days and hours vary. Weekend work required and evening work required. Evening work is usually between the hours of 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Please note that we cannot guarantee the number of hours to be worked per week.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Customer-friendly, flexible schedules, and willing to learn a wide array of skills for event production.

Some heavy lifting required; the person must not be afraid of heights.
