Recently named one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs, the University of West Georgia is seeking an Assistant Director of Student Employment. As part of UWGs strategic plan and overall commitment to: increase opportunities for student employment on campus that provide a supportive, developmental workplace that prioritizes educational pursuits while alleviating financial burdens; deliver comprehensive career development opportunities, and career employment services to assist students in securing gainful employment; expand efforts to engage students in high-impact activities such as professional and creative experiences, this position will develop and maintain relationships with campus partners regarding student employment and the facilitation of community grant programs that employee UWG students.
This position is responsible for directing on campus student employment initiatives and processes. Key priorities include strategic alignment of job descriptions, compensation, training, recognition and recruitment. Guide student on campus employment and develop programming to assist students with part-time and full-time job search strategies and job readiness skill development including resume/cover letter writing and interviewing skills.
The Assistant Director is to keep apprised of state and federal regulations and make program adjustments as needed to align with these policies. Develop and deliver work-readiness instructional information and training for students, supervisors, and employers. Liaise with Employer Relations staff to connect with off campus employers interested in participating in Community Service, America Reads and other part-time student employment and internship opportunities. Assist Career Development staff to review student resumes/ application materials to effectively market education, experience, civic and community involvement for potential job opportunities. Manage online job posting system to track all student positions, prepares all relevant employment data needed to report on the success of program, and ensures GPA and total hours worked are in compliance. Maintain a student employment and career services website with relevant online student employment and internship resources. Actively participate in national and regional organizations that provide support in the professional development of student employment administration. Directly supervise professional and student staff. Occasional regional travel and evening and weekend work is required.Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree
2. Minimum two (2) years of professional work experience in career services, higher education, financial aid, human resources or closely related field
3. Excellent communication, organizational, time management and planning skills
4. Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
5. Minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience
1. Master's degree in Organizational Leadership, Human Resources, Student Development/ Leadership, Higher Education Administration or a related field
2. Minimum three (3) years of professional work experience in career services, higher education, human resources or closely related field.
3. Experience in community and business outreach
4. Demonstrated knowledge of relationship management databases or job applicant tracking systems, such as Symplicity, PeopleAdmin, eRecruiting or CSO.
$45,540 minimum - $58,632 midpointConditions of Employment
