Assistant Director of the Honors Program

 

Buffalo State, State University of New York, seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Director of the Honors Program

 

The Assistant Director of the Honors Program will primarily focus on student engagement and enrichment as well as supporting the initiatives and needs of the Honors Director. Primary duties include:
• Assists with all summer orientation events
• Prepares fall and spring activities calendars
• Coordinates most fall and spring activities for students
• Assists with coordination of general Honors Program Activities
• Serves as advisor for the Honors Student Association
• Serves as the mentor for the Honors Student Ambassadors
• Teach HON111 Introduction to Honors and HON444 Honors Senior Seminar as needed
• May teach other courses in specialty as needed
• Coordinates use of Bishop Hall with the Residence Director and Student Life
• Serves as Social Media advisor and manages social media accounts
• Manages Newsletter and website
• Assists in tracking student progress including honors applied experiences
• Assists Director with other projects as needed

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in related area of study.
Previous experience advising and mentoring college students.
Previous experience classroom teaching.
Experience with:
building social media platforms and websites,
engaging students from diverse backgrounds in events and activities,
event planning and execution,
willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary to meet program objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with honors students.
