Educational and Experience Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in related field. Three years of experience in a related field. Previous experience in Texas public schools including knowledge of teacher preparation and certification programs preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

Performs complex administrative and supervisory program work in the SHSU College of Education Garrett Institute.

Primary Responsibilities:

Oversees the work of assigned program staff. Prepares and reviews reports on the effectiveness of program activities, including oversight and coordination of field experiences, certification, licensure testing, and advising. Conducts ongoing review and evaluation of field experience and certification activities, associated processes, and personnel. Coordinates activities and training of University and public school supervisors. Provides budget input for certification activities and serves as primary liaison with partner school districts through the Sam Houston Innovative Partnerships with Schools. Responsible for coordination and processing of various administrative activities, including payroll, budget, and purchasing paperwork. Coordinates data management related to field experience, certification, placement, and assessment processes. Assists in the preparation and presentation of all University, state, and national reports. Conducts needs assessment of university candidates and public school students related to field experiences in the public schools. Participates in state organizations for field experience coordinators, certification officers, and testing coordinators. Prepares budget requests. Prepares and oversees the preparation of training and operational manuals. Confers with staff on program issues and problems and implements solutions. Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates programs. Develops and recommends Garrett Center program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations. Interprets policies, rules, and regulations and ensures they are followed. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to supervise business functions. Communicates with other University departments, personnel, and other agencies. May require weekend and evening work. Must have technology skills. Experience with Microsoft products, Microsoft Teams, spreadsheets and data college, SharePoint, budgets, grant writing, professional written and oral communication, scheduling, and conducting virtual meetings and trainings. Time management and organizational skills necessary. Positive attitude and professional communication skills are critical in this position.

This is a temporary, full-time, benefits eligible position. Position is expected to end on or before 8/31/2023. This is a grant funded position. Continuation of the position is contingent upon continued funding.
