URAD handles a range of services encompassing stewardship, events, gift administration, communications, and more.The Assistant Director of Development, Fowler College of Business and ZIP Launchpad is a mid-level fundraising professional responsible for raising gifts ($25,000 and above) to support the Fowler College of Business and the Zahn Innovation Platform (ZIP) Launchpad. The Assistant Director reports to the Senior Director of Development of the Fowler College of Business and University Initiatives and is a member of the university’s development team. The Assistant Director, working with the Senior Director, Fowler College of Business and University Initiatives, is responsible for implementing both short term and long term fundraising goals as part of a development plan, and is responsible for securing private voluntary support from individuals, corporate and foundation donors to the University. The primary responsibility for this position is to raise major gifts for the Fowler College of Business and ZIP Launchpad funding initiatives. Additionally, the Assistant Director has a dotted line reporting to the Executive Director of the ZIP Launchpad and is responsible for fundraising for ZIP Launchpad initiatives as assigned by the Executive Director, including the Aztec Cooperative Fund and advisory board development. This position will work to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects. The Assistant Director will manage a portfolio coordinating activities of prospect management, research, scholarship, annual and planned giving, and corporate and foundation relations. The Assistant Director will actively conduct and prepare basic prospect research, developing profiles on major gift prospects, corporations, and foundations, summarizing verbally and in writing, pertinent and detailed information as it relates to college priorities and strategic plans. The Assistant Director will work with the Senior Director and Executive Director on strategies for prospects in their portfolio. The Assistant Director will work with the Senior Director and Executive Director to define annual and long-term fundraising strategic plans and goals for the Fowler College of Business and the ZIP Launchpad.For more information regarding University Relations and Development click here.This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits-eligible, at-will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.Candidate QualificationsThe successful candidate will have a high degree of commitment to higher education and philanthropy with the ability to represent SDSU and University Development in a positive manner on campus and with external constituencies. Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in relevant fieldMinimum of 3-4 years of progressive development experience or related work such as community or public relations, sales, and/or marketingExperience in writing grant proposalsDirect experience in personal gift solicitation and fundraisingExperience working with volunteers and with corporate executivesAbility to attend events during non-business hoursLicenses and Certifications RequiredA valid California driver’s license is requiredPreferred Qualifications Demonstrated fundraising experience raising major gifts of $25K and aboveExperience managing a large pool (150+) of major gift prospectsFundraising experience in a large, complex universityEllucian CRM experienceDemonstrated experience in upgrading donorsExperience with comprehensive and/or capital campaignsCompensation and BenefitsSan Diego State University will offer a competitive salary based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
