Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Coordinator, Computer Applications, Boca Raton, FL.

The Coordinator, Computer Applications receives incoming requests and problems from the Help Desk Manager of User Services and researches to resolve or expedite the resolution of computer problems. The nature and functionality of the projects vary by individual and change over time as necessary to accomplish the University's academic mission.

Summary of Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide second and third tier support to FAU computer user community such as wireless configuration of student, staff and faculty laptops, pin-resets for Banner, account creation, password resets, assigning users to network shares, developing and maintaining documentation, designing, testing, and installing operating systems and application software on desktop systems. Some server operating systems and hardware support is also included, as well as research, testing, and administration of server systems.
  • Troubleshoot software, network and hardware related issues.
  • Field tests new procedures, and works with the Manager of User Services to make certain all installation, debugging, and trouble-shooting procedures used by the consulting group are efficiently designed and capable of being executed by OIT or its representatives.
  • Maintain/enhance technical expertise level by keeping current with industry standards and technical trends, and advance skill-set by taking personal initiative.
  • Update help desk tickets effectively and clearly.
  • Recommends technology solutions to departments as required by his/her supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.

Solid technical writing skills are necessary, good written and verbal skills, and superior customer service skills are required.

Work experience as a desktop support technician preferred.

Advanced knowledge of computer hardware systems, chipsets, memory modules, and peripherals.

Knowledge of popular operating systems, software applications, and remote connection systems.

Ability to solve complex hardware and software issues.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Valid driver's license required.
